Wine Enthusiast : Barrel Sample. Packed with black currant fruit and hinting atspiciness, this wine is full of juicy acidity as well as a dry core oftannins. Spice and dryness show strongly at the end, a sign of agingpromise.
Bettane & Desseauve : Arômes de fruits noirs très mûrs et de tabac, bouche excessivementmarquée par le boisé qui donne une amertume peu plaisante à cestade. L’élevage lui fera certainement beaucoup de bien.
Vinous : The 2019 Chantegrive is a powerful, dense Graves. Black cherry jam, licorice, spice, gravel, incense, and earthiness abound in this dense, powerful red. There is quite a bit of potential, especially if the tanninssoften. Tasted two times.
Wine Advocate : Composed of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, the deep garnet purple colored 2019 Chantegrive offers up notes of baked plums, warm cassis and blackberry preserves plus hints of bay leaves, underbrush, pencil lead and crushed rocks. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has a firm foundation of chewy tannins with just enough freshness to lift the muscular black fruits, finishing earthy.
